Rail transit offers almost unlimited capacity to riders who can avoid the crowded highways. Thus, rail transit is needed to substitute for highways which simply cannot realistically grow much beyond twelve lanes. And a new interstate through the developed parts of Salt Lake Valley is next to impossible.
